Landing Vehicle, Tracked (Armored) moving through water carrying troops. "File no: C.G. 2914. Going in at Anguar - Guns readied, grim faced Army infantrymen sweep toward the beach of Anguar [Angaur] Islands, in the Palaus [Palau Islands]. This sharp photograph of amphibious invasion was made by a Coast Guard combat photographer heading toward the beach in the first waves. It shows at close range an LVT(A) churning through the surf. Its caterpillar treads enables the Landing Vehicle Tanks, Army, to creep over the hidden reefs that sometimes broke the LCVPs. (A U.S. Coast Guard photo).
