Gift of David Lawrence, from the collection of the National World War II Museum
Description:

Civilian refugees (probably the Chamorro/Chamoru people) from Tinian climbing aboard a U.S. Navy LCT [Landing Craft, Tank] from an LCM [Landing Craft, Mechanized]. The Navy was probably transporting civilians that have surrendered after hiding in caves on Tinian and the surrounding islands.
