Photographs from the Packard Motor Car Company, Detroit, Michigan. During World War II the Packard Motor Car Company produced the Packard Marine engine used on US Navy Patrol Torpedo boats (PT boats), Army crash rescue boats, and merlin engines used in American and British fighter aircraft. This extensive collection of over 1300 photographs, originally from the Packard Motor Company, documents the PT engine production line, merlin engine production line, the PT motor machinist mate school operated by Packard, and various company events. Included are portrait of employees that were serving in the armed forces and of dignitaries visiting the plant.
