James George Piluk was born 10 May 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was inducted at Baltimore, Maryland into the US Army Coast Artillery Corps on 5 February 1943 with active service beginning 12 February 1943. He was with the 9th Air Force with Battery B of the 792nd Anti Aircraft Artillery (AW) Battalion and served in the European Theater of Operations in France, Belgium, and Germany. He returned to the United States on the U.S.S. Boise from Le Havre, France to New York on 25 November 1945. He was honorably discharged on 7 December 1945 at Fort Meade in Maryland having attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Piluk passed away on 29 November 2011. The collection contains photographs of Piluk during his service in Belgium, France, Germany, and stateside.
