A Jewish grave marker for Sergeant Edward G Rothafel, 245th Field Artillery Bn (105mm How Trac-D), on Leyte in the Philippines on 9 July 1943. Note: A marker in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii also shows Sergeant Edward G. Rothafel born 28 August 1916, died 9 July 1943. It lists Rothafel as being from New York and a Sergeant in Field Artillery WWII.

Joseph J. Moran enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1940 in Alabama. In April 1942 he served in the PTO in communication and telephone construction. Moran saw service on numerous Pacific islands during the war beginning with New Caledonia in 1942 ended his Pacific service in the Philippines. In April 1945 he was sent to San Francisco, California and discharged on 29 May 1945. Moran died in July 1989. The collection follows Moran's service from Fort Bragg in 1941 to the Pacific in 1942.
