426. Photograph. 'File No: 209584 April 25, 1944 Navy planes sink U-Boat in two minutes! Close-up of the U-Boat during the attack. Though the enemy fought back vigorously with anti-aircraft fire, the combined efforts of the Navy attackers sank the sub in two minutes. No survivors were found in an extensive search made by the Navy surface vessel which accompanied the escort carrier on the convoy escort duty.' 25 April 1944

The Charles Ives Collection consists of 719 photographs from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Many of the photographs were taken between 1944 and 1945. Mr. Ives inherited the photographs from a friend from Marblehead, Massachusetts who served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps and discharged as a Major in 1945.
