385.Photograph. 'File Number 259015 Feb. 14, 1945 Navy lands Eighth Army on West Coast of Luzon Troops of the U. S. 8th Army under command of Lieutenant General Robert L. Eichelberger, pour off Navy LCI's (Landing Craft Infantry) and wade ashore between San Narciso and San Antonio on the west coast of Luzon on January 29, 1945, in a brilliant move calculated to cut off Bataan Peninsula and to capture the naval base at Olangapo. Tactical surprise was achieved to such a degree that not a man, ship or plane was lost in the landing.' 14 February 1945

The Charles Ives Collection consists of 719 photographs from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Many of the photographs were taken between 1944 and 1945. Mr. Ives inherited the photographs from a friend from Marblehead, Massachusetts who served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps and discharged as a Major in 1945.
