Items from the service of Lt. Bernard J. Mertzweiller, who was born in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1924. Mertzweiller enlisted with the US Army Air Corps on October 29, 1942 and served in the 9th Air Force, 387th Bombardment Group, 559th Bombardment Squadron in the European Theatre of Operations. Mertzweiller flew 34 combat missions. Collection includes correspondence, over 80 photographs, and insignia.
