1822. '3-21-44. Freeney. Two pigeon cages supported by a nine foot parachute which had been dropped from an L5 plane during maneuvers at Hunter Liggett Military Reservation to test the practicability of supplying units operating in difficult terrain with pigeons. Three to six birds will be dropped in a cage to the 71st and 89th Light Divisions. The pigeons were supplied by the 1st Combat Section, 1st platoon, 283rd Signal Pigeon Company. HLMR Mtn.
