Description:

Photograph. Operating room in hospital. Official Caption: "Rome, 7/5/45--At New York Hospital, one of America's large medical centers, about 30 operations are performed a day. Such a medical center has many operating rooms like this one as well as operating amphitheaters for instruction of students. Small medical centers may have only one or two operating rooms but they are as well-equipped as those of a great 1000-bed hospital.--Rome OWI 7006-2." New York, New York. 5 July 1945
