Twining, formerly Head of the 15th U.S. Army Air Force in the Mediterranean theater, will take over command of the 20th U.S. Army Air Force in the Central Pacific Marianas on August 1, 1945, succeeding Maj. Gen. Curtis E. Lemay. Gen. Lemay has been promoted to serve as Chief of Staff under Gen Carl Spaatz, Commander of the Strategic Air Forces in the Pacific. In his new post, Gen.
