Infantrymen of the 6th South African Armored Division, hover about a small, smokeless fire in their position atop Monte Pezzo 'Hill 826' in the vicinity of Veggio, Italy. Despite freezing weather, snow, cutting winds and endless enemy fire these men stay in position for six days and nights at a time before being relieved for a rest at the foot of the mountain.
