406.Photograph. 'File No: 46578 September 21, 1944 Saga of Bus Miller--- Holding a press conference at Eniwetok, the Marshalls, Commander Norman M. 'Bus' Miller, USN, tells of his missions against the Japs in the Pacific. Known as the 'One Man War' or the 'One Man Task Force', Commander Miller piloted a Navy Consolidated Liberator on armed reconnaissance flights during which he always found opportunity to do a little al fresco bombing and strafing. He is credited with sinking or damaging 66 Jap ships, including a destroyer, and with making 55 low-level attacks on Jap bases.' 21 September 1944

The Charles Ives Collection consists of 719 photographs from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Many of the photographs were taken between 1944 and 1945. Mr. Ives inherited the photographs from a friend from Marblehead, Massachusetts who served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps and discharged as a Major in 1945.
