A group of Filipino men play cards in the Philippines in 1944
Gift of John M. Lynes Sr., from the Collection of The National WWII Museum
Description:
A group of Filipino men play cards. "The men, for the most part, have a definite dislike for anything resembling physical labor, leaving that distasteful ordeal to the womenfolk. The biggest thing, it seems, in the man's life is his fondness for gambling, of which cockfighting is the best example. And even here waiting for the weekly cockfight session to start, they while away the time at cards." Philippines 1944
