The front exterior of a model home, New York, June 1945

Description:

Photograph. The front exterior of a model home is shown, including intended landscaping. "Rome, 6/29/45--Model of American house.--This small-scale model of a single-story house, designed by George Fred Keck, is on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The rooms face south to catch the rays of the low winter sun, but deep eaves provide shade in the summer. Although the glass is fixed in place, screened louvers at the top and bottom of the north wall provide excellent cross-ventilation. Water on the roof helps to keep the house cool.--Wide World Photo through Rome OWI-Approved by appropriate military authority-(List A Out). 6936 B."”New York, New York. 29 June 1945
