A Filipino boy sits in a makeshift bath tub in the Philippines in 1944
Gift of John M. Lynes Sr., from the Collection of The National WWII Museum
Description:
A Filipino boy sits in a makeshift bath tub. "This little fellow looking with wonder at the camera, has just finished getting bathed by his mother and squats in patient manner while the photographer snaps his picture. The distended belly is caused by the presence of the disease called schistosomiasis, caused by blood flukes which abound in all fresh water streams and the swamps in the Philippines."
