Rome. 6/17/45--Prefabricated house erected in 34 minutes--A five-room, 13-ton prefabricated house was assembled recently in the U.S. state of California in the amazingly short time of 34 minutes. The house has 700 square feet (65.1 square meters) of floor space and is of permanent construction. The walls, floors, and roof are made of a new variety of concrete said to be fireproof, waterproof and able to withstand earthquakes and hurricanes. The material can be sawed and nailed like wood and is lighter than any other type of concrete. This series of photos shows various steps in the assembly of the house.--Wide World Photos Through Rome OWI--Approved by appropriate military authority (List A Out).
