1344. '10 July 44. DuTiel. Colonel Robert H. Lord, Commanding Officer of the 1st Student Training Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia pins the combat Infantry Badge on the chest of P.F.C Paul S. Farquis, 4th Battalion 20th Company, cadre; as T/4 Sawochka another badge wearer looks on. The Infantry Badge was awarded during a Battalion Review as an indication of merit for satisfactory performance of duty in active combat against the enemy in the South Pacific Areas of Tongo, Guadalcanal, and Samoa Islands.
