1831. '3-24-44. J. P. Johnson. Cleaning breach of 75mm Pack Row after firing, Pfc W. Zanienaski of Battery C, 609th F.A. 71st L. Div., finds it a little hard to do with a lack of water. Battery C is dug into the rearward slope of firebreak trail during mountain maneuvers. Nearest water is in the valley about 4 miles down the trail, and pack mules can make only two trips a day, due to the steep climb. HLMR Mtn. Man. 168-9-44-580.'
