'File Number 48797 April 7, 1945 Operation Cebu Caught in a combat 'tableaux' by the camera, troops of the Army's Americal Division crouch on the sandy shore of the east coast of Cebu after Navy landing craft debarked them on March 26, 1945. The invasion apparently caught the Japs off guard, and the invaders met only small arms and mortar fire as they swarmed ashore.' 7 April 1945

The Charles Ives Collection consists of 719 photographs from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Many of the photographs were taken between 1944 and 1945. Mr. Ives inherited the photographs from a friend from Marblehead, Massachusetts who served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps and discharged as a Major in 1945.
