Official Caption: “Rome, 6/15/45--Allies meet in Berlin--The final chapter of Hitler’s Third Reich ended June 5, 1945, when Allied leaders, meeting for the first time in Berlin, signed a pact on the defeat of Germany and the assumption of supreme authority by the four major Allies. Members of the British and American delegation are seated around the table at Russian Marshal Gregory Zhukov’s Berlin headquarters. They are (left to right, seated): General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander; U.S. Vice-Admiral Robert L. Ghormley; Robert Murphy, adviser on German affairs to General Eisenhower; Sir William Strang, political adviser to Field Marshall Bernard L. Montgomery, and Field Marshal Montgomery.
