1940. '3-28-44. Johnson. Type L4H Liaison plane picking up map overlays and enemy situation information to be delivered to 609th F.A., 71st L. Div., C.P. situated in a strategic position along a ridge above Liaison air field during mtn. man., HLMR. This system is used for delivery of written orders and map overlays to artillery positions. For hasty pick ups, a grappling hook suspended from the plane snatches message from loop held by two men. HLMR MTN Man. R168-9-44-691.'
