U.S. Army Signal Corp photograph, Gift in Memory of William F. Caddell, Sr., from the Collection of The National World War II Museum
Description:

116.Photograph. '24 Nov 44. 5/MM-44-30590. Fifth Army, Lagaro Area, Italy. At first glance one might think the Germans have become friendly to the extent of lending a hand to bogged down allied vehicles, but no, this is a captured German [8 ton] half track reconverted by recovery men of the 6th South African Armored Division into a recovery vehicle of unusual power. The long tracks assure good traction in mud or snow enabling the crew to recover vehicles regardless of the terrain. Photo by Baker. 3131 Signal Service Co. 24 November 1944
