Oren Sholars was born 20 October 1878 in Dodson, Louisiana. He worked as a carpenter foreman for the contractor T.L. James & Company. During the 1940s Sholars worked on the construction of Camp Polk in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. During the construction he and his crew lived in the first barracks building at the camp. Sholars died in Ruston, Louisiana on 2 October 1962. The collection consists of 25 photographs documenting the construction progress of Camp Polk.
